Barton Mayo Laryngectomy Button
The Barton Mayo laryngectomy button eliminates two complications associated with fistula speech.
- Provides a leak proof extension of a tracheostoma valve – which reduces the need for finger occlusion during speech.
- Eliminates the need for skin adhesives which may irritate.
The Barton Mayo button allows a hands free tracheostoma valve to be in position without the need for adhesives. Simple to insert, the tubular portion fits inside the stoma margin. The inner lip gently grips the tracheal wall and provides integral sealing as pressure increases during exhalation.
After inserting the Barton Mayo button, a tracheostoma valve easily snaps into the outer fenestration housing. For some patients with a voice prosthesis, fenestration may be required to be cut into the button. The flexibility of the Barton Mayo button allows it to be easily collapsed for insertion and removal.
- provides leak proof retention of any tracheostoma valve
- provides hand free speech
- no skin adhesive necessary
- flexible-easily inserted and removed
