| Clean and dry the Stoma area | Using the Stoma Stud measuring guide, measure the width of the stoma opening | Check the size with the Stoma Stud shaft resting on the cut out of the corresponding size on the stoma guide | Please Note: The ideal fit should be a close snug fit - the rim of the Stoma Stud will act as the anchor point in the stoma. |
Assembly and placing of the TrachiNaze Plus Stoma Stud and Filter
Once you have chosen the correct size Stoma Stud - assemble the TrachiNaze Plus components as follows:

| Holding the Stoma Stud in one hand, bring toward it the filter of your choice. | Place the filter in the rim of the Stoma Stud and gently pull the rim of the Stoma stud around the filter. | The filter disc will rest inside the lip of the Stoma Stud. | Once in place the Trachi-Naze Plus Stoma Stud and filter are ready to be placed into the stoma. |
It may be advisable to use a lubricating gel either on the Stoma Stud for easy entry or local anaesthetic around the stoma opening to reduce coughing when the Stoma Stud is inserted.

| Before inserting the Stoma Stud with the filter disc, fold the shaft of the stud thereby making it easier to place inside the stoma. | When the Stoma Stud shaft is inside the stoma release - the stud should fit snugly (not tight). The rim of the stud will anchor the Stoma Stud in place.. | Voice prosthesis users will easily manage speech by simply covering the occlusion cap with their finger. This will allow air to be diverted through the prosthesis into the oesophagus then to the mouth for leak free speech. |
Removal: Hold the Stoma Stud and pull forward gently, turning the Stoma Stud whilst bringing it forward will help remove the Stoma Stud.
Changing Filters:Filters should be changed at least twice every 24 hours. Mucus will adhere to the back surface of the filter. Remove the Stoma stud and peel the filter out of the Stoma Stud.
Fitting TrachiNaze Plus Shower Shield
The Shower Shield fits onto the occlusion cap of the filter.

| The Shower Shield is pressed gently into the center of the occlusion cap and will click into place. | Please ensure that the Shower Shield opening is pointing downwards whilst showering. | Please Note: The Shower Shield can be an ideal protector in outside windy conditions - deflecting the wind away from the stoma. |
