Heimomed

Amplifier: Model Freiburg

This handy pocket device enables those who have undergone surgery on their vocal folds to acoustically strengthen their remaining whispering speech - or their weak oesophagus speech - by up to 15dB. It can also be fixed to your clothing with the integrated clamp.

The outside dimensions of this voice enhancer are 33x68.110 mm and its weight including accumulator is a mere 220g. In the bottom plate there is a jack bush so that it can be connected to a telephone repeater or an external active loudspeaker. It is even possible to plug in a connection cable to a car radio so that you can communicate via the car radio.

The voice enhancer is powered by an accumulator with a capacity of 8-10 hours, depending on how much you use it. The device is supplied with two accumulators so that one accumulator can be charged while the other is in operation. In special cases it is also possible to place a commercial 9 V battery into the battery tray. The service life is then approximately 15 hours.

Loudness is controlled with the help of the scales on the front plate below the socket for the microphone.

You have the choice between four types of microphones:

  • The special microphone - as is shown on the packaging - is taken into your open hand and held with the thumb. Middle finger and ring-finger then reach for 2-3 cm over the rim of the microphone. This microphone is positioned directly in front of the angle of your mouth.

  • The mini microphone is even lighter - 25g - and can also be used as a hand microphone. A clip and a swan-neck-shaped holder are included so that it can be mounted onto wheelchairs and beds.

  • To keep your hands free two other models are available which again are fixed by means of a swan-neck-shaped support and headgear. The microphone model 1 is fixed to a comfortable headgear.

  • The microphone model 2 is positioned by means of bows which are held by your ears and which can be formed in such a way that they are also very comfortable to wear. Optimum fit is ensured by an adjustable supporting bow which is placed on your neck.

  • Important: When using one of these models please ensure that the microphone is placed at a distance of not more than 1cm to take up sound properly. The optimum position can be found out repeated trying.

  • The 4-pole pin-socket-connectors must be assembled in such a way that groove and nose face each other.
