The Snooze System
The Snooze System, designed and developed by a multi-disciplined team brings very special solutions and the final key to 24 hour care. A selection of rolls and pillows with various supports that 'hook & loop' fasten to a special sheet which gives the therapist the widest range of positioning options, from a rigid padded bracket giving the firmest of support, to the security of a soft fill flexible roll. Options of three fillings and the ability to adjust the concentration give the system truly flexible characteristics. Simply fit the mattress cover, align the client in the optimum position, then support only where necessary, so minimising the cushioning the client is in contact with which will therefore reduce the chances of overheating and increase compliance.
We are the first to admit that no 'off the shelf' system can answer all challenges but Snooooooze can, by giving easy access to our manufacturing base, enabling customised elements to be developed as solutions for the most demanding of postures.
Full details are available from the brochure
W Leg Trough
The W Leg Trough is available in four options offering in most cases the option of full or partial leg support. Addressing differing degrees of force from the legs the basic model will give definite positions to help with pelvic positioning and abduction. Should you have a client with windswept legs and the associated contractures at the knee, the W with a roll underneath will give excellent support when bringing the legs into alignment.
To develop the use of the W a bracket can be added at the side for a more positive force. With the addition of the wrap both legs can be drawn into alignment. This system is available without the mattress cover. The characteristics of the chipped memory foam allow for extension through the night.
Brackets, Pads, Wedges and Pillows
Giving support to the body these elements can be used in many configurations. Directly on the body, with or without pads or used giving extra support to other elements.
Newcastle Beanie Arm and Leg Ramps
Based on our famous Newcastle Beanie Gator, the ramp and sleeve can be oriented to give either a fall or rise of the limb. The elevated position helps in addressing pressure, foot drop, fluid retention and in the leg we can demonstrate a position that is helpful in the treatment of thrombosis, with the leg given an improved blood circulation. It is also possible to elevate the heel away from any pressure point. The Beanie is available in 4 sizes to cover both legs and arms and the Ramp either soft or hard fill.
Rolls
The selection of rolls is varied and the therapists use them to support many parts of the body in many ways. The long roll, often placed behind the client to prevent rolling, is sometimes supplemented with brackets. The multi-roll is a shorter piece, fitted with a strop, so an abduction form can be created. The tapered roll offers a versatile element that can fit small and difficult locations. The banana cushion is a curved element which is supplied with no 'hook & loop' fastening and is excellent for placing between the legs.
Body Roll and Bolsters
Multi-use, multi-function and an exciting addition to the range in 2006. The body roll offers a mouldable shape which will encourage and support side lying. Doubled up, it can be used as a sitting aid in bed. The bolster is a larger element that helps occupy space in the bed and possible back-up to bed sides.
Soft T-Roll, Spinal Cube and Neck Ring
A variation on our solid T-Rolls, these soft fill elements are more client friendly when considering use in sleep systems. With the spinal cube under the legs, this wonderful stepped posture offers the client a relaxed spinal column. The neck ring gives support and positioning for the head while not restricting movement and allowing rotation. A creative use is also a comfort ring for sitting on.
Pillows
Often for comfort and emotional security the client is left with their own pillow but, as with all elements in the range, the pillows are multi-use if not under the head then elsewhere. By attaching flaps, the client's weight can be added to most elements. The PVC ramp is to be used under other elements.
Mats and Mattress Covers
The Mattress cover is the 'hook & loop' fastening receptive part of the system 'soft to touch.' It is also possible to use a cotton oversheet to the system if required. The therapy mat offers the extension of the system to the daytime and the mats can be custom manufactured for specific installations such as sensory rooms. Therapists have also used these with system elements in rebound therapy.
The undermats are a close cell foam offering extra padding if the therapy mat is to be used on hard floors.
Profile Bed Use
By adding a simple under-mattress strap, the cover profiles with the bed, allowing the use of elements to control upper body position. Even head control can be addressed.
Chair Back Use
Tested in the Nursing Home Sector, we have been able to demonstrate upper body support for a range of clients when using high back, high seat chairs and lift recline chairs. With the back covered and strapped/tied tight, any Snooooooze element can be added for support. An extension of this principle can be used with tailored sleeve to help in motor vehicles! Please note, the user of any seat system in a car must wear a seatbelt.
Mouldable Snooooooze
The system is very simple to use and offers an extension to Snooooooze where specific shapes are required. Letting air into the cushion allows the filling to move and to be moulded around the client. Once the desired shape is achieved the air is extracted to produce a supportive shape in seconds. The system is so adaptive that it can change to a new profile at a moment's notice. Available with or without interfacing 'hook & loop' fastening.
To make the system easy to use a foot pump is provided so that the supports can be moulded with both hands free. This allows the element and the client to be supported whilst the carer can make the necessary adjustments without losing the shape required, which means that the moulder is always in control.
Paediatric Range
The success of the range both at home and internationally in hospitals and residential homes placed pressure on us to develop a paediatric range. Not just a case of making a range of smaller elements but the complex evaluation of filling and fabric performance on a different scale. Today, the following elements are available in the paediatric range:
- Box pillow
- W Leg trough
- Tapered roll
- Mattress cover
- Leg trough wrap
- Large pillow
- Wedge and pillow
- Long roll
- Trifold + bracket
